Frederick Ruegger is a Berlin-based photographer whose work explores themes of identity, culture and the human form.

I'm A Stranger In This Country documents Rüegger's journey through the UK and Ireland to photograph Roma or Traveller horse fairs for his book. His vivid images capture the vibrant social interactions in country towns where Travellers meet to trade horses, sell goods and make music. The project's title reflects both Rüegger's outsider status and the marginalisation of Travellers in British and Irish society. Rüegger's aims to preserve a way of life threatened by contemporary societal changes and growing prejudice in post-Brexist Britain.
