Mustafa Bilge Satkin is an award-winning documentary photographer based in Istanbul. Satkin’s work addresses issues of social injustice, climate change and migration.

In The Shadow of Noah documents the devastating impact of dam construction in Southeastern Turkey, where the Tigris and Çoruh valleys have submerged ancient settlements, religious sites, and cultural heritage, displacing over 20,000 people from diverse ethnic groups. The dams have not only altered the environment–affecting ecosystems and biodiversity–but also caused profound cultural loss, as traditional ways of life are disrupted and unique languages and rituals fade away.
