Photographer Clémentine Schneidermann & Creative Director, Filmmaker Charlotte James focus on long-term projects based on immersion and collaboration. Together, they co-founded Bleak Fabulous, a photography-based creative studio, that has an emphasis on communities and collaboration.

It’s Called Ffasiwn is a collaboration between Clémentine Schneidermann and Charlotte James that blends fashion, documentary and community. Beginning in the South Wales Valleys, the duo worked with local youth through free fashion workshops, inviting them to style, customise and create their own looks before being photographed in their creations. By bringing colour, surrealism, and humour to places often depicted only through narratives of decline, the project reimagines how these communities are seen and how young people see themselves. Over time, the workshops have grown into full summer fashion schools, with participants evolving from children into teenagers, culminating most recently in a recreated prom and launch of “Ffasiwn Magazine Spring Summer 2024” by Bleak Fabulous Studio, the duo’s own creative studio.
