Santiago Martinez is a Colombian born photographer who now works and lives in Lausanne, Switzerland. His work playfully explores the materiality and the processes of image-making.

Torbola 31 is an applied research project that explores a unique hybrid process blending photocopying and photography. By combining a large-format lens setup with a black-and-white laser photocopier, each image is directly printed onto A4 paper, bypassing digital interfaces in a manner akin to Polaroid photography. The machine and camera are mounted on a trailer traversing the Verzasca Valley, where it scans the landscape in real time. Torbola 31 responds dynamically the land’s natural patterns, offering a playful reimagining of the territory. The resulting images exist in a space between representation and abstraction, inviting viewers to question expectations and explore new avenues of interpretation and imagination.
